The Library records in the collection encompass the entirety of the Princeton University Library's history, with the bulk of the material dating from 20th century. Records-keeping at the library has not always been systematic however, and for this reason the documents in the collection are considerably diverse. Included are Librarian's reports (from University librarians as well as associates), development files and gift records, exhibit records, accession lists, staff records and human resources files, correspondence, scrapbooks, shelflists, and even catalog files (both written and on microfiche). Also included are the materials pertaining to the various satellite libraries, and the records of the Friends of the Library group.
